Its my first time doing a survey! do u think my survey question is good?

i have to survey 200 students in my highschool. my survey is 'which liquid do you drink the most'

Can you answer two of my questions please? :





-First I only wanted to ask the question once: ‘Which of the following liquids do you drink the most’


And include ALL the choices in the question survey (water, jus, soda, coffee, milk…)


BUT then I figured out that its not right if a mix cold drinks with warm drinks…its not the same.. So I split it into 2 separate





1) IS IT RIGHT HOW IM DOING IT? OR SHOULD I JUST LEAVE IT AS ONE QUESTION?





2) SHOULD I ADD IN THE QUESTION ‘COLD DRINK’ AND ‘WARM DRINK’ (which warm drinks do you drink the most?) OR SHOULD I JUST LEAVE IT?

I've found that in writing surveys, the more open the question, the more variety you'll get in your answers. You can't think of every possible answer, and people might just choose something on your list instead of writing their own thing. Maybe some people drink Red Bull or iced coffee the most, but wouldn't write that because you didn't include those choices. I'd make it two open questions: What cold drink do you drink the most, and what hot drink do you drink the most?
Reply:I would specifiy cold liquids and hot liquids, and I would include an "other" under the cold. I drink lots of iced tea. Chocolate milk is cold...do you mean hot chocolate?





Do you want more info, such as what type of soda or juice? You could have a section to identify. I do not know if it is important whether X% of students drink coke, while Y% drink diet pepsi?

No because if you wanted something cold hot you wouldn't let it get cold in the first place





If you want something cold and have something hot it's much easier to change it back to cold then change something cold back to hot.

Anyways, I think that you should just ask one question:





What do you drink the most?

-Soda


-Tea


-Juice


-Energy Drink


-Other ____________





That would probably be sufficient for your purposes (that does, of course, depend on your purposes).
Reply:Keep it simple. "What liquids {hot or cold} do


you drink the most?"


You see, some people start their day with a


beer and that's all they do all day long.


Keep it simple and it makes it easy for every


one. For me, I drink a heck of a lot of coffee.

Reply:Spell JUICE correctly...there is no such thing as "jus" unless you live in France, which I highly doubt you do.

Reply:Loooks okay.Why not ask about soft drinks and their favourite drink..Also just ask students about which hot drink they drink the most.
Reply:if your going to seperate the hot drinks from the cold at least Use both Iced Tea. And Hot Tea. I think Cold beverages and Warm Beverages.. devided is a good idea. Let them Choose From both catagories.
