Could you please take my survey on cultural intelligence?

I am a PhD student trying to finish my paper before February. I need people to help by taking the survey from the link below! It's completely anonymous and will only take about 5 minutes...thank you! Please click on the link below to continue:

https://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=d...

Could you please take my survey on cultural intelligence?
OK, I did it but you could have asked us a lot more and gotten more useful information. For example, I've very comfortable in dealing with other cultures but was raised in a bicultural home where traveling to a foreign country was a regular part of summer vacation.

I've traveled to the United Kingdom, Italy, Turkey, Greece, Egypt, Israel and Mexico. I speak 3 languages. I've worked with Native Americans (Mescalero Apaches) here in the United States.

My answers will probably be atypical and, had you bothered to ask about things like whether I've traveled outside the US or worked with different cultures here in the US, that would have come out in the survey.
Reply:My employment doesn't fit in any of the given categories. I'm a software engineer, working on Software As A Service. I'm putting "organizational development."

OOPS! Sorry, I can't complete the survey. As a borderline non-functional autistic person, I do not interact with other people. I'd have to put "strongly disagree" with just about everything.

Ah well. Perhaps you should consider the possibility that posting a note here on the Internet will not give you a random sampling for your survey, possibly invalidating it. It'll give you a sampling of people who own computers, use the internet, AND like to answer questions on the internet.

Good luck, young grad student.

Good sites for creating a survey?

I tried to use Survey monkey, but the free account only allows 10 questions and my survey requires 15 questions. I'm a poor college student, so I can't buy a subscription. Are there any other free survey sites that allow for 15 questions? Thanks in advance!

Good sites for creating a survey?
Zoomerang.com has a basic account which is free and allows up to 30 questions. You can only collect 100 responses and the results are only available to view online for 10 days.
Reply:If you can find hosting, proxy2.de has advanced poll.

There are websites such as freefronthost and 50megs that will allow you to run php on their servers.
Reply:no !!! not 4 free !!

Female, 1st year professional school, 2 Valentine's dates, $100...I didn't spend anything this year bc/ my bf and I were really busy this year and he doesn't like Valentine's anyway, he thinks it's just another way for businesses to make money off of you. He prefers to give gifts whenever he wants.

You probably should have put this in the polls/survey section...

If i have a 40 person survey of respondents for graphs in college, what conclusions with arguements?

for and against their being valid i.e(informative and deceptive graphs) can i use to explain maybe one using a simple bar graph and the other a pie chart. How would I do one that is deceptive? How would I explain cxonclusions with arguments for and against their validity? the data is 40 items of students, how many units they have completed, and how long they have been in school. the bar graph shows 1 as the lowest and 36 as the highest. the pie chart shows 60 units to 130 units.

If i have a 40 person survey of respondents for graphs in college, what conclusions with arguements?
I would use a scatter chart with units completed on one axis and length of time in school as the other axis.

C++ program help.. i need to write a food survey application:?

A cafeteria wants to determine how students rate each food item. The cafeteria requires an application that surveys the student's opinion of various food items, rating each item as "like" or "dislike". The application should use a two_dimensional array to hold counters for each category in the survey. The application will prompt the user to continuously select a food item and rate it, then display the total ratings for each food item. --- The result should display like this..

Select food item:

1-Pizza

2-Hot Dog

3-Fish sticks

4- mystery meat

5--exit this application

? 1

Do you like or dislike pizza? %26lt;enter 1 or d%26gt;? L

Invalid input

Select food item:

1-Pizza 2-Hot Dog 3-Fish sticks 4- mystery meat 5--exit this application

the result should say

your results are:

food like dislike

pizza 2 0

hot dog 0 1

fish sticks 1 1

mystery meat 0 1

Reply:Not sure about your formatting there, plus why use a two dimensional array when a regular array would do just fine?

The main idea for the program is to create a while loop that exits if the user enters 5. Inside the loop you'd do your calculations (increment values) then print the menu again.

Question about those survey sites or other online sites where you "make money"?

Does anyone know of any survey sites where you don't have to pay the site to take their surveys? Or does anyone know of some work at home site that is legit, will work for a college student, and isnt going to ask you to pay them to work for them?

I keep getting all these emails from sites saying make money by taking surveys, etc. Yeah if you pay them first, then there is no telling if you'll ever see that money again. So some kind of free survey site or something that will actually pay for opinions.

Job opportunities in my state are rather dry without four year degrees.

Question about those survey sites or other online sites where you "make money"?
Theres a lot of "free survey" sites out there most of them work on a point system and it takes a ridiculously long time to earn any cash. You could spend 50+ hours taking surveys to earn a lousy $10. Here are a few that I find do actually give you surveys for cash.

https://www.mindfieldonline.com/member.p...

http://www.myview.com/

http://www.greenfieldcentral.com/

www.pineconeresearch.com

Each of thses sites work a little differently. Mindfeild is a product testing site. They haven't ever paid me but I do get quite a few products to test from them. And I get to keep those products.

Myveiw pays $2 per survey. They pay through paypal and regularly. Its the site ive made the most cash from so far.

Greenfield only occasionally pays cash. They will state that the survey pays cash when they send it. Most surveys they send out reward you with a contest entry. They are slow to pay.

Pinecone is a hard one to get signed up with. You have to find a recruiting banner and follow the link to sign up. Its not easy to find one but if you do they pay $5 per survey and they pay regularly and they pay fast.

Be forewarned these bring in a little bit of extra income but they will not earn you a living.
Reply:I am looking at the same thing. I will let you know what I find. You can also email me and I will let you in on what I have found so far
Reply:Who does not like some extra cash in hand? What about when that 'extra cash' comes relatively easy, with the least of exertion? What about when that extra cash comes to you right in your home, without having you to move to any other place?

You guessed right! I am talking about home business. There are a great number of home businesses with the advent of the Internet. Many people are drawing a decent income from such endeavors. Each one of us is tempted to try out some of these offers, because they sound so easy and within our reach, that we feel we would miss out on a great opportunity if do not try it out. The temptation is even harder to fight when we are in dire need for cash.

I got hooked on the idea, when I had lost my job two years ago. I had more than 16 years' seniority and never expected to get the axe. My heart was broken; but what hurt the most was that I had, all-of-a-sudden, to cut and curtail on each every expense. I was faced with an acute emotional and financial poverty.

It was at this time that, one day while idling over my computer, I clicked on a link - which I think mentioned cash from home - and I was hooked. At first I was overwhelmed at the variety and diversity of the Internet income opportunity. I found a multitude of offers ranging from data typing, to freelancing; from web designing to copy writing . to the one of the most lucrative options, paid surveys.

Taking paid surveys is an extremely convenient and easy way to earn cash online. I can see the interest growing in your eyes. What are online paid surveys, you will ask?

That is exactly what I was asking two years ago when I rediscovered the meaning of earning at my convenience! Let me start at the most important part. Money! How much can you make with online paid surveys? Will you believe when I tell you that you can make anything between $1 and $150 per survey?

They say that the difference between real and fiction is that fiction needs to make sense!! This is really applicable to making money with online surveys. It does not really make sense, but it is there life-size and true! But do not take my word for it. You go out there and just type 'online paid surveys' in the browser line and see what comes out of it. Try a few and just get the feel of it and see how easy is to fill in a survey.

The online surveys are just simple questionnaires which require certain information or opinions from you. These feedback are analyzed by the companies who send you the surveys and the information thus obtained go to form the future product strategy of that company, be it marketing, production, content, correction, etc.

The next logical question you would ask is why the companies would pay people to do surveys. Companies need access to information regarding the reaction of the public on the products they promote. In order to get this information they do extensive market research studies which are expensive and sometimes not reliable - when the data can be manufactured. Paid online surveys give these companies direct access to the public. The payment is calculated based on the importance of the product and the difficulty the company has to gain serious insights on it. Hence, online surveys are a healthy business proposition for the companies.

You could, as I could, build a good reliable source of income with online surveys. There are a few tips that you should keeping mind however, so you do not run into headaches.

Seek those companies that have a good feedback on the Internet; in order to find what others think of it, run a search on the name of the company asking for review or comments. Invariably, the net will throw up sufficient feedback for you to get a good idea about the company;

Remember - this type of work is just like any other work, even if it requires less mental and physical effort. Completing online surveys require patience and persistence if you want to earn a significant amount;

Another trick is to get your name enlisted in as many companies as possible. Logically speaking, even if you have only $5 surveys - which usually take anything between 20-25 minutes max (this also depends upon the speed of your browser) - and you have 4-5 per day, you could earn a very tidy sum;
Reply:Yeah...you never want to sign up for anything you get through un-solicited mail. Even if they claim to be from a legit site, they may be someone else pretending to be that site to get your info (a phishing scene).

There are some legitimate sites out there though. Taking survey just earns you some pizza money (I earn about $20 a month) not salaray or "pay your tuition" amounts.

If pizza money is fine for you, I've reviewed most of the sites I've been payed through here:

http://www.windhavenweb.com/surveys

And I've put tips on how to avoid survey scams (too many of them out there!) here:

http://www.windhavenweb.com/surveys/avoi...

If you are artistic at all, or can think of some funny sayings to put on t-shirts and mugs and stuff, another free business you can do from home is selling your designs at places like www.cafepress.com or www.printfection.com . (You can probably use Adobe photoshop at your college for free--so you have that going for you). It's fairly easy to set up--but if you really want to succeed it takes a lot of work and commitment. It can take 6 months to a year for your first sale (or not...sometimes less...sometimes a design becomes popular and you sell a lot right away--you never know). But I do know people who make a full time living doing that.

Reply:It's all a scam. Get out and get a real job. By the way, a real job is something that you can put on your resume after you graduate that would enhance your chances of landing a post college professional role.
Reply:all scams....dont ever send any money for information...for real employers do not require money up front
Reply:sounds like a bunch of scams to me

I wouldn't waste any time looking for one that's not

Please Answer My Survey! I Need It For A School Project.?

Hi, I am a high school student conducting a survey for a school project. I need 5 adult black women, (adult meaning 21 or older) 5 adult black men, 3 adult caucasian women, and 3 adult caucasian men to answer the following questions.

When answering, please answer truthfully. Please indicate your gender, race and age when you're finished answering the questions. THANK YOU!

1) How do you feel rap and R%26amp;b portrays black women?

2) What are some positive stereotypes of black women?

3)What are some negative stereotypes of black women?

4) Where do you hear these stereotypes of black women?

5)Which stereotypes do youu hear most of?

6)How often do you listen to rap and R%26amp;B? Do you enjoy it? If so, why?

7) If you are a black female, how do you feel about the negative stereotypes?

8)Do you think the concept of rap and R%26amp;B has changed over the years since it began? If so, how?

9)What images usually come to your mind when you think of rap and/or R%26amp;B music videos?

Please Answer My Survey! I Need It For A School Project.?
For your demographics- I'm female, white, adult...

1) I don't normally listen to rap and R%26amp;B, but the songs I have heard are pretty rude toward/about women in general. One that comes to mind makes excuses for a man who cheats on his woman (girlfriend? wife? I'm not sure.)

2) Positive stereotypes... That they're sexy, or at least they seem to have fewer or at least less-severe body-image issues than white women. They're ok with having a little curve.

3) I've noticed that sitcoms haven't been particularly flattering of women lately- Everyone Loves Raymond, Life According to Jim, My Wife and Kids, King of Queens, etc- the husband is dense, insensitive, and childish, and the wife (no matter her color) is supersmart, tired, and b--chy.

Also there's the idea that black women are more... "out there" than white women. They're more vocal, more opinionated, etc.

4) I see these stereotypes mostly on TV. I avoid those shows. I prefer shows that show more depth to the characters.

5) Good question. Like I said, I don't really watch the shows that rely on stereotypes... although some advertizing does...

6) I don't listen to rap or R%26amp;B. I don't really like the rhythm, but mostly it's the words- a) I can't understand the lyrics or b) I don't agree with them... I'm a Country girl....

7) Even being white, I don't like the stereotypes. I'm sure there are black women who fit in the pigeonhole, but I'm equally sure that there are those who don't.

8) I I think R%26amp;B has a little, but rap- I'm not sure.

9) Rap/R%26amp;B music videos.... I know this is horrible, but the only image that comes to mind is the song, "I Like Big Butts." What's sad is I don't even know who sings that song!

One black woman I really admire- Jada Smith. She and her husband (Will Smith) really seem to work as a team- they love each other, love their kids... I admire their marriage.
Reply:I wonder why you want only 3 of each gender of the white community but 5 of each gender of the black community? You cannot get a proper survey because you are not surveying an equal number of people. I am 48, white, female. So I cannot answer because the results will be skewed to the black persons thoughts and opinions.
Reply:Caucasian 25 year old women.

1)I think both white and black women are protrades as objects more then people. Also not as smart as men considering that it seems the men have all these women and not one of them knows or has a problem with their loyalty.

2)Better lovers,Run a home and family more effectively.

3)Big Bootys, Gold diggers(if with a white man/rich man)

4)Television,music,movies and media

5)Big Booty

6)I listen to a rang of music everyday but rap and R%26amp;B mainly for the beats to dance to. Not alot of rap is worth listening to the lyrics because I tend to get mixed feelings about the artist/
Reply:female, white, 28

1) How do you feel rap and R%26amp;b portrays black women?

As sex objects, rap more negatively than R%26amp;B. It's not just rap and R%26amp;B that do that though!

2) What are some positive stereotypes of black women?

No nonsense and don't take sh*t from people, strong, spiritual, sexy

3)What are some negative stereotypes of black women?

Get involved with a lot of abusive relationships or with men that run out on them, have more kids than they can afford to take care of, they seems to be tough on their kids sometimes, buy designer clothing even when on Welfare

4) Where do you hear these stereotypes of black women? Mostly the media but I've seen obvious examples of this when I've been in black 'ghetto' neighborhoods, in court or in the welfare offices myself.

5)Which stereotypes do you hear most of?

The negative ones.

6)How often do you listen to rap and R%26amp;B? Do you enjoy it? If so, why?

Not often, maybe a few times a month. I'm not as exposed to it as much now as I was when I was younger. I like some older rap, I like the beats. Some newer songs are good too. I don't really like R%26amp;B, it's too soft.

7) If you are a black female, how do you feel about the negative stereotypes? (n/a)

8)Do you think the concept of rap and R%26amp;B has changed over the years since it began? If so, how?

Rap was more about the streets and good/interesting beats at first and/or some positive stuff, then it seemed to get really negative and violent for awhile and all about drugs and guns, now it seems to focus a lot on money. That's more the mainstream stuff. A lot of the more underground rap is more innovative. I don't know much about R%26amp;B

9)What images usually come to your mind when you think of rap and/or R%26amp;B music videos?

Sex and lots of diamonds, furs and Escalades (rap). Sex, sweat, romance (R%26amp;B)

Reply:Research binge drinking habits and that way when your research is complete you can be informative and save lifes with your information.
Reply:1. Well educated students who practice unsafe sex though they're aware of the risks involved.

Although this poll wasn't government sanctioned I recently asked for a consensus on whether George Bush should be tried as a war criminal or not. Considering the fact that the vast majority of people who use this site are American I was surprised at such a high percentage that are in favour of putting him on the stand.

A survey was given to 100 students to determine if they liked hot dogs, hamburgers, or tacos. (more info)?

28 liked hot dogs.

13 liked hot dogs and hamburgers.

34 liked hamburgers.

15 liked hot dogs and tacos.

57 liked tacos.

17 liked hamburgers and tacos.

7 liked all three.

How many students did not fill out the survey?

Hints:

* Start with the last clue

* 28 liked hot dogs, that means that in the hot dog circle of your Venn Diagram, your numbers will add up to 28 - some of those 28 liked other things as well.

A survey was given to 100 students to determine if they liked hot dogs, hamburgers, or tacos. (more info)?
Nineteen didn't!

I believe I'm right...

7 only liked Hot Dogs

11 only liked Hamburgers

32 only liked Tacos

6 only liked Hot Dogs and Hamburgers

10 only liked Tacos and Hamburgers

8 only liked Hot Dogs and Tacos

And, as stated, only 7 liked all three!

The total is 81, leaving 19 who didn't fill out the survey!
Reply:How would i put it here in text form but just read the numbers tacos: 32, 8, 10, 7; hamburger: 11, 10, 6, 7; Hotdog: 7, 8, 6, 7. These are the number the circles each food overlap with.
Reply:19 either did not fill out the survey or did not like any of the three.

The portions of a 3-circle venn diagram are:

All 3 (center of diagram) = 7

Hamburgers and tacos only = 10 (17 - 7)

Hot dogs and tacos only = 8 (15 - 7)

Hot dogs and hamburgers only = 6 (13 - 7)

Hot dogs only = 7 (28 - 7 - 8 - 6)

Hamburgers only = 11 (34 - 7 - 6 - 10)

Tacos only = 32 (57 - 7 - 8 - 10)

Add up these spaces, you get 81 who like at least one of the items.

100 - 81 = 19 who either liked nothing or didn't fill out the survey. (Without further information, you can't say which.)

Statistics survey...help?

I’m interested in studying the relationship between college students over the age of 18 who smoke per week and the number of hours spent exercising. If a person smokes more and more, their exercising habits gradually decrease because their health is deteriorating. The results of the study will provide some insight on whether smoking has a negative or positive effect on exercising.

3. The overall population for my survey are college students,

Should I be surveying college students at my school or College students in the US?

4. The variable that would be measured is, ‘how many times a student smokes per week’ (quantitative, discrete).

The 2nd variable to be measured is, ‘how many times per week do they exercise’ (quantitative, discrete).

Does it matter how much time they spend each time they exercise?

The qualitative information in my survey will be ‘age’.

Why is age a qualitative variable?

Statistics survey...help?
Let me address the sample. To have statistical validity you will need a random sample. To get a random sample at your school you need only to select students in such a manor that everyone has an equally likely chance of being selected, such as obtaining a list of the student body and selecting eery nth person on the list. then making the effort of getting the data from each of these people.

It is more rewarding to have a random sample of US college students but much more difficult. So that each student would be equally likely one might design a method of first selecting the college or university, since each college or university has a different sized student body, the selection of universities would need to be weighted so the larger colleges universities would be proportionally more likely to be selected. Once a college or university is selected you would need a random method of selecting a student in that particular institution.

In my opinion this is by far the most important consideration, obtaining a random sample. Once that method is designed, you can address the question of exercise regarding smoking and if exercising at all and how often is what you want to study or do you wish to have a quantitative component to the smoking and exercise.

Looking for a survey that how technology is influencing students?

Are you trying to find a survey for your students to take? Or are you trying to find the results of a survey that other students have taken?

Looking for a survey that how technology is influencing students?
Also, survey results will probably differ between high school/ university students, and in different economic regions. Most universities conduct their own internal studies on a fairly regular basis.

At a guess, I'd say that it enables them to plagiarise without reading, and get other folks to do their homework on Yahoo! answers, but I'm sure you'll find some upsides too. Try a more specific question.

All foreign students in US colleges, can you please take a quick survey?

Hi, I'm a College Student and I have a project due immediately, and I was wondering if you guys can answering these three questions.

1) Has the transition of colleges been difficult?

2) Have you adjusted to the US system? How long did it take you?

3) What are 1 or 2 differences between the colleges?

Thank you, any help is appreciated!!

All foreign students in US colleges, can you please take a quick survey?
Ok, I'm not a foreign student but I teach many foreign students so perhaps this may be helpful.

1. The cultural isolation seems to be the biggest problem. This includes language, food (a bigger problem than one might think), social customs and making friends.

2. Usually a year or so to settle in seems about right. Many of my ESL students make friends much easier with other foreign students - a common enemy, so to speak.

3. For university students, the access to faculty members (easy in the USA, relatively difficult in other countries) and the emphasis on classroom participation in American universities is a big difference. Many foreign colleges and universities are sit and listen affairs. Here, teachers welcome questions.

Most of this comes from my work with Asian students. Perhaps other countries and areas experience different problems.

Again, sorry I'm not foreign but hope this helps.

The professor decided that our questions were too similar. I was afraid to help anyone else after that so I constantly had to turn people down and only work alone unless I was placed in a group by the teacher. I understand teachers getting upset with cheating, but some....at least one that I know of take it too far. Students should be encouraged to work together on outside of class assignments. Bottom line is

DONT CHEAT!!! and be careful working with other people.

I never cheated in college. I did pull some tricks back in HS, but it wasn't anything too major. I would write down formulas or abbreviations on top of my folders or in the pocket of my calculator. I guess in HS - it was stressful because I wanted to do well to9 get into college.

In college, you don't have to take too many of the classes you are not so good at. For example, I didn't have to take any real challenging science or math courses. I stuck mainly with what I am good at: psychology, writing classes.

To students in Rome /Florence: What are the avrg expenses per month for a (foreign) student in Rome or Florenc

I want to study art in one of these cities(Rome or Florence) and since I come from Macedonia, which doesn’t have a high level of economy standard, I have to make the decision based on which city is cheaper(please include rent, food transportation). If you know about any conducted surveys and researches regarding this, I would be thankful if you gave me the links.

Tnx a lot!

To students in Rome /Florence: What are the avrg expenses per month for a (foreign) student in Rome or Florenc
If you are on a budget then both of these cities are very expensive. The main reason is that both are very tourist, and that Rome is the capital of the country. If you are on a budget perhaps you should look to live away from the big cities - try further in the south.

I can only comment on Rome as I live here, however a monthly pass for the bus, metro etc...is 30 euro, and food can be cheap or expensive depending on what you eat. If you try not to eat out too much, and buy and cook your own food you will get a lot further with your money. You will probably need to look for shared housing, which is not cheap. You need to decide if you want to live in the city walls or out. Out is cheaper, but you have to commute with the transport. A share house may cost you from 400euro up per month.

www.wantedinrome.com has some info on rome, and do a google search to get some more bits and pieces.

I f there is a school in another part however consider this.

Rome need 800 euro per month

Sociology Survey (STUDENTS HS-COLLEGE) I NEED 50 RESPONSES!?

HYPOTHESIS: Students in high school/college with an average GPA of 1.5 and lower are more than four times as likely to smoke marijuana in the past year as students who reported an average GPA of 3.8 and higher.

1. Age?

2. Are you in college or HS?

3. What is your GPA?

4. Do you smoke marijuana, if so, how frequently?

5. Do you smoke marijuana before school?

PLEASE ANSWER AS TRUTHFULLY AS POSSIBLE; TO ANSWER YES ON SMOKING MARIJUANA MEANS THAT U SMOKE AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME

3. 3.6

4. No according to your criteria; it's very inconsistent. I usually smoke a few times a month then stop for 6 months to a year.

5. No

I respectfully disagree with your hypothesis. As long as they're not smoking right before they attend school (which is not part of your hypothesis), *adding* marijuana smoking *to whatever a person's normal habits are* doesn't have a history of having much of an impact on their intellectual performance. If they're not a smart person to begin with (or lazy), they're going to have bad grades with or without it. But employees that smoke cannabis have better performance records, which controls for apathy since they were chosen and not mandated to attend school. In other words, even if you do find a correlation, it doesn't mean it's causal. But we'll see what you find out! :)

Also, you're going to have a hard time finding anyone to survey who is below 1.5, especially college students. Colleges put you on academic probation or kick you out if your GPA is below 2.5 or 2.0. You should widen your margins a little.

I think you should also consider that some students may have some type of learning disability before deciding that they have a low GPA because they smoke pot. There are also a lot of other factors to consider, has the person had a recent break up, loss of a loved one, loss of a child, suffering from depression, been raped, have post traumatic stress disorder-how many people suffering from the above mentioned things do you really think are able to focus on grades, maybe you should broaden your hypothesis.I do agree that some people who smoke pot have a lower GPA but was just thinking of other factors as well that could cause a low GPA.
Reply:;/ i guess i might not fit your hypothesis, but.

1. Age? sixteen.

2. Are you in college or HS? high school.

Did anyone in high school receive a "language" survey?

I am a high school student in the New York Metro. This week, I recieved a "language" survey administered by my french teacher. The nameless survey asked for my name, address, grade, and current GPA. It asked what language I am currently taking, what languages I wish to take, and what college/career I wish to pursue. Then, it asked if I did any varsity sports, and my views on joining the military! Additionally, this survey asked if I had no choice, what branch of the armed forces would I wish to join! The address at the bottom indicated the so-called "language" survey was from Alexandria, VA.....which also happens to be the home of the department of defense. I wanted to know if anyone else has recievied this survey, and if it is even legal to give to a bunch of 14 year old freshmen!!!!

Did anyone in high school receive a "language" survey?
I'm sure that it is legal, since your teacher gave it to you. That sounds like the math survey that I got in my math class. It asked me what was my favorite type of math, what kind of college would I like to go to, how far I would be willing to go away from home to go to college and also it asked me about what armed forces I would like to join too!

My teacher said that if we did it, they would give us scholarship information. Still waiting on that, though.

A survey for teacher: your thoughts on students using ipods?

1. grade/age range you teach

2. are ipods used a lot? are they a problem?

3. what are your thought on ipod use inside class after lecture? outside class? lunch/break?

A survey for teacher: your thoughts on students using ipods?
It is a big problem in the high school I teach at. Students try to listen to headphones while I'm speaking, and have even answered cell phones in class during a lecture. The problem is that the school has no detention, and rules aren't enforced by the administration and there is nothing I can really do about it. I would not try to take the items b/c many students would rather hit a teacher than lose their ipod or cell phone. It is a nightmare. I'm quitting after this year.
Reply:1) I teach 6, 7, and 8th grade English

2) Students are only allowed to use their iPods when previously approved, usually during reward times that they have earned. I have taken away a few iPods or other MP3 players but not many. Students usually pick up on that pretty fast and they don't want to have to tell their parents what happened. Parents are required to come pick them up from the principal.

3) I play music in my classroom (using my iPod actually, through my computer) I have a play list set up of songs my students have suggested, songs that are all "school appropriate" that is. If students prefer quiet we have other places they can go to work or read. I wouldn't mind allowing iPods in my classroom alone as I have students who download the audio book to go with the book they are reading, however this is only possible if it is a special education student and it is written in their IEP.
Reply:Just use the iPods during breaks...any other time is extremely rude...

The survey design is flawed.?

The survey design is flawed. Is the flaw do to the sampling method or the survey itself?

suppose you are conducting a survey regarding students study habits. form a list of full time registered students you obtain a simple random sample of 90 students. one survey question "how many hours do you study"

The survey design is flawed.?
The method of sampling seems to be OK.

The question is ambiguous. It does not give a time period. Day? Week? Semester? I'd think "Day" is implied, but it should be stated. Also, the average time should should be asked because every day is different.

First, the DoD is headquartered at the Pentagon, which is in Arlington, not Alexandria.

Second, whoever it's from, they're just collecting information. If you don't want to fill it out, don't fill it out. Have your parents submit a letter exempting you from surveys. Geez. Paranoid much?

Just wait until you're a senior and you have the option of taking the ASVAB. If you do well, recruiters might actually give you a call and offer you a top rate fully paid for college education. *gasp* The horror.

What is the best topic for my thesis on project management???

I'm a building surveying student. I'm doing my final year thesis and now having problem to decide the topic. I've narrowed down to a few ideas include project organizational factor, time management, and cost management. Which one would be better topic for a thesis? or any better suggestions?

What is the best topic for my thesis on project management???
How about, "How did the world manage before Project Management was invented"?

Unlike yourself (I'm sure) most project managers know sweet about construction, let alone architectural design, and often turn out to be the weakest link in the project (although it is a competition between them and the M%26amp; E engineers). They tend to engender the blame culture and quite frankly in many cases are another overhead to add to the (already inflated) cost of building today. The biggest failing is not managing the clients' expectatioins - they are employed by the client and so usually end up telling them what they want to hear. The design team have a duty of care and are bound to tell it how it is.

You seem to have overlooked 'quality' in your assessment - any project is a function of time, cost and quality - usually one is at the expense of the others. Maybe you could try some case studies to see how the process works?

Depends on how you wish to show change.

You could show difference between ages, geographical location, diet, ethnicity, or health problems.

Good luck on your report!

Does this survey explain why creation is becoming...?

...more acceptable to Americans as a scientific alternative to evolution and does it worry you?

http://mje.mcgill.ca/article/view/2218/1...

Approximately 20% of students surveyed in this study report that their high school biology teachers taught them neither evolution nor creationism.

Based on these students’ reports, creationism appears to be taught in 20-25% of biology classes in public schools.

Does this survey explain why creation is becoming...?
I don't need this survey to tell me the US school system lacks an emphasis in real science. All the kids can tell you the definition of an experiment, since that is on standardized test. But ask them the basics of evolution, and they say "we evolved from monkeys, 'cause a monkey gave birth to a human." Sad.

But you have to factor in the different cultures of the US. I bet in New York, you would have very different percentages then in Arkansas.

%26gt;...more acceptable to Americans as a scientific alternative to evolution and does it worry you?

Creation is not becoming more acceptable to americans as a scientific alternative to evolution. This is mostly because creation is just plain NOT a scientific alternative to evolution. It is, until such time as there is enough evidence to suggest otherwise, a faith-based alternative. Whether or not more people are accepting it does not change this fact.
Reply:You know what is so strange about all of this controversy, to me, anyhow, is that I went to school in upstate New York, in the '60's (yes, I am an ORIGINAL Flower Child), and we were taught evolution, but nobody ever suggested that if evolution then not-God or if God then not-evolution. I don't know why it never occurred to us back then...maybe because nobody was pushing the "let's get rid of God" agenda so hard??
Reply:In high-school I was taught that creationism IS the truth, and that evolution is atheistic lies.

Then I went to college, thought for myself, and realized my high-school was just another religious nut-house.
Reply:No, but this survey explain why creation is becoming...

Reply:If we teach scientific method and logic, anyone reading either account (creationist or scientific) will see clearly that creationism is not scientific or valid.
Reply:I can't say I'm surprised. Evolution was never covered in any of my science classes growing up, but I don't remember Creationism either (although I DO recall a guest lecture from a flat-Earther - not joking).

Here's a puzzle: How many students were surveyed?

A group of middle school students completed the survey shown below:

1.Do you like Cappuccino Fudge Swirl Ice Cream? Yes No

2.Do you like Cookies and Cream Ice Cream? Yes No

When the results were tallied, it turned out that 80 answered "yes" to the first question, 70 answered "yes" to the second question, 60 responded "yes" to both questions, and 10 said "no" to both flavors. How many students were surveyed?

Here's a puzzle: How many students were surveyed?
60+(80-60)+(70-60)+10=100

How should I compensate for the medthod of selection?

I am conducting a statistical survey about hours of sleep vs. grades among the students in a school from 6th-12th grade. I will be sampling 4 students from each grade level. As of now my plan is to stand in a communal area and randomly select students to survey, however I am concerned about self-selection and bias. I am looking for suggestions about ways to account for any bias, or an entirely different method of sampling. I am open to all suggestions. Thanks!

How should I compensate for the medthod of selection?
First of all you need to broaden your sample size. You're using 7 grade levels with four students from each which means N=28. Not much to base your conclusions on...As for selecting if you yourself are choosing the subjects then you're correct. You have just introduced bias into your study. Give everyone a number and then have a teacher or someone else draw the number from a hat. Perhaps you could even search online for a Random Number Generator.....Good luck and great topic to study by the way.

Survey on the image and popularity of theatres.?

Hi I am a business administration student from germany. This semester we have to do a survey on the image and popularity of the local theatre. Unfortunatly we can't find any literature on the web. Does anybody has experience in this field or can tell me where to find a former survey, article or anything else on this topic ?

Survey on the image and popularity of theatres.?
All I can say, friend, is to "google it".

Theaters is how I write the British spelling of "--re", which is a curious form of stupidity I think on the part of the British, just as the French have the stupidity of calling Havre "Hav-er", I just call it "Hav-ruh" like I call our former Green Bay Packer football quarterback Bret Favre "Bert Fav-ruh").

I can only tell you that MOST people in our United States of America today do NOT know what the old movie theaters of the 1950s and before were like! Today's people in our country only know the stucco cereal box type theaters of the 1970s and later!

The glamorous nature of going to a theater to see a movie during the week or on a weekend is GONE! They were so luxurious once! No longer do news-reels have any relevance when a computer can bring up more news media information in one minute than an hour and a half of celluloid news reels of the past! It was so different then!

All I can say is, think up different categories and ways of asking in short sentence fragments, and "google it" ! ! ! ! And good luck friend!
Reply:What kind of theater? Movie theaters? He is an article, with stats...

http://seniorjournal.com/NEWS/Entertainm...

there are a bunch of stats and papers on movie theaters... have you tried your college library database? I know their are published works. I was working on an assistantship with one of my professors who was trying to publish his paper on movie theater attendance and movie theater goers.

Best of luck!

I'm female, and I don't skip classes at all.. Why would I waste money by paying for a class, and then not show up?

Besides, skipping class only causes more problems. You miss material, you have to go back and try to understand it yourself, but even then, you'll never get the depth that your professor explains during lecture.

Do you know where i can find a survey or test to give to my class about tolerance of homosexuals?

I am doing a presentation on gay/lesbian issues in public schools. I want to hand out a survey to see how tolerant my classmates are of homosexual students going to school with them, etc. If anyone knows where i can find one to print off that would be fantastic!! Thank you!

Do you know where i can find a survey or test to give to my class about tolerance of homosexuals?
You might check with the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists, or with the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality. I don't know if there is a test specifically for measuring homosexual tolerance levels, but I know that there is a general "sexual attitudes" test.

What would be a good part-time job for a full time college student that doesn't involve food or telemarketing?

I've worked as a server/host at Bob Evans and Bennigans. I couldn't stand telemarketing. Does anyone have any ideas of places where I can work? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Just don't say sell stuff on ebay or half.com because I already do that and don't post things about making money online by doing surveys or pyramids by anything like that. Thank you.

What would be a good part-time job for a full time college student that doesn't involve food or telemarketing?
Try a retail job in an area that interests you. If you're a reader, try a book store. If you're a computer geek, try a computer store. Outdoorsy type? Sporting goods store.
Reply:Retail worked okay for me, companies like Home Depot and Publix offer tuition reimbursment. An internship may be another option, some are paid and you get great experience for your resume.
Reply:Talk to your local college employment offices. Usually on campuses there are tons of opportunities for student workers. As a part of your financial aid package there is sometimes a option for work study, where the federal govt. will pay some of your wages. These college based employers wont pay amazing but they will work with your class schedule. I spent 3 years as a student worker at the library and loved the flexibility and the pay was good.
Reply:get a job doing something you like. good jobs dont fall on your lap... its out there.
Reply:Do you like working with children?

Child care centers or YMCA's are a great place. The reason is because the hours are typically 6 AM - 6 PM, and usually no weekends if you work at a "daycare".

I did it all through college it was a great resume booster as well as I work my way up the chain and began supervising staff, organizing schedules, etc.
